I forgot to post how we managed to deliver 3 babies peacefully in 24 hours!
It all went so smoothly, I don't know quite what to say. Our first lady came in and was 3-4 centimeters, and within a few hours was complete. In the mean time, another called with her water broken and was on her way in but believe it or not had a car problem. Her cousin picked them up and brought tem, but when she got there I couldn't really tell if she was in labor or not...her contractions had decreased and her water was definitely not broken. I let her sleep a few hours upstairs while debating her labor. After a 2 hour nap, her contractions picked up. We had already delivered the baby downstairs, done newborn exam and mom down there was relaxing and eating. So back upstairs to deliver. That baby wasn't born until about 3am. Mom and baby downstairs were going home when the next mom called and her water was REALLY broken, gushing!! She came in and had a wonderful doula with her (you will all meet her soon, her name is Sarah and she is going to be birth assisting with us). Kaleen came in and the baby downstairs (second one downstairs) was delivered...perfect!! We discharged the upstairs lady and several hours went by and the fourth came in also with her water broken. This was the water birth that I wrote about earlier in my post: I had gone home and slept a few hours and Kaleen called me back to say she was ready.
We have such an incredible team here: Rebecca worked her booty off running up and down steps. Kaleen and I can switch off when we are tired. We have a few other birth attendants and are int he middle of training a few others so that we can make sure that each lady has the most incredible birth possible.
Anyway, THAT is how we managed 4 births in 28 hours smoothly!! It was terrific and exhilarating like a marathon and just in case you are wondering, that kind of thing does not happen often!
Happy Birthday to all those babies!!
