Insurance

Congratulations!! You took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. Then you scheduled a consult and tour at our birth center. And while you visited us, we put together an estimate for your insurance coverage. Most people really don't understand how their insurance plans actually work. I mean, they understand that they have insurance but they often don't understand why they have to pay anything out of pocket or a how we come up with the estimate, so we thought we would help break this down for you.  But first: there are different ways people obtain insurance plans. Some employers include insurance plans are a benefit to working with their company. Employers will contract with different insurance companies and each employer might offer different plans to different employees, so just because you have Cigna, as an example, it doesn't mean all Cigna plans are the same. Also, some people purchase their own insurance plans directly from insurance companies or from the Marketpla

We're back!

It has been quite a while since we touched our blog, and there are so many things happening att he birth center and in our birthing community that I want you all to know about, so I thought let's get back to blogging!

First we just celebrated Florida's Licensed Midwifery Week, which was October 1-8. The Florida Friends of Midwives local chapter is not really up and running yet, so no real media went out for this great opportunity to let the public know that they have options in their childbirth care and providers. Perhaps I can generate some support through the blog!!

Next, we are really wanting to revamp some things through the Center itself. One thing I had strongly considered was adding a third birth room, but upon further thought, we really need the education room and we REAALLLY want to open a store. So Rebecca is spearheading the store along with the classes at The Educated Mama. Keep an eye on what goes on over there. We plan on carrying cloth diapers, breast pads, herbs, bath salts, maybe some organic/funky baby clothes and other related items.

We had our 10th Annual Baby Reunion last week at the Central Florida Zoo...turn out was great and we had a good time! the food was incredible (it was a pot luck so we all got to try out every one else's favorite dishes...quite interesting!) and the kiddos all enjoyed the pinata. Thanks to Jason Skipper for taking pictures and sharing them with us since I forgot my camera!

There are several health fairs coming up that we will be attending, we will post these on our new Events Calender, so check it out every once in a while and see what is going on in your neck of the woods. If you here of an interesting event, please post it to us to let other families know also.

Stop by and visit, send an email, or send us a picture and let us know how your little ones are doing!
